Text Box: The opportunity to combine my community organizing with advocacy experience with an empowerment based model of programming and services is probably the key reason that I came to Second Chance. The opportunities and potential here is immeasurable.”

Mary believes that the design of successful programming must include the insight and ideas of women and girls involved in our program. “I believe that the programming Text Box: needs to be developed by and with the support of participants. The basic structures of services offered are designed that way, but will adapt and adjust as they best meet the needs of the participants.”

When asked what she is looking forward to, Mary answers: “It’s clear from my first month that there will never be a dull moment during my time at Second Chance.   I look forward to expanding the framework for programming and Text Box: support to best meet the needs of  the participants, growing a sustainable circle of survivors who mentor and support those who are now walking their own Text Box: ficking in Ohio spoke and then there was discussion about the current proposed laws in Ohio addressing human trafficking. The first portion of the group meetings are dedicated to personal journaling, along with an educational/preventative piece including healthy relationships, violence, positive choices, trauma, HIV/STD information, and overall wellness.
